摘要

The application of drag reducing additives is a promising technology to improve the operation of district heating systems. The addition of only a small amount of such additives causes a reduction in pressure loss up to 85 % in straight pipes, at the same time a heat transfer reduction of about 90 to 95 % may occur.
In several research projects heat exchangers that are typical for district heating systems have been investigated. Shell and tube heat exchangers operating with water on both sides and condensers show the strongest influence. The heat output can be reduced of about 70 to 75 %.
In plate heat exchangers which are often used in transfer stations the heat load can be reduced of 10 to 15 % in maximum.
To guarantee the supply using drag reducing additives, further investigations have to be carried out to improve heat exchanger conditions.
