TESTS OF AN ENHANCED HORIZONTAL TUBE CONDENSER UNDER CONDITIONS OF HORIZONTAL STEAM CROSS FLOW
Abstract
An experimental horizontal multitube steam condenser was built and operated in order to obtain shell side heat transfer coefficients of individual tubes as a function of steam temperature, mass velocity, non-condensable fraction, condensate rain, log mean temperature difference, and cooling water velocity.
Modified forms of the Nusselt equation and of the mass transfer factor (jM) definition are shown to describe the experimentally observed effects and to be applicable for developing improved condenser tube bundle designs.
