Analysis of experimental results of n-pentane and propane boiling across a horizontal tube bundle

Abstract

This paper deals with the heat transfer characteristics of flow boiling of pure hydrocarbons (n-pentane and propane) across an horizontal tube bundle. An optical probe is used to measure the void fraction and to evaluate the local flow pattern. The drift-flux model developed by Zuber and Findlay is used to adjust the void fraction experimental results. Moreover the analysis of external heat transfer coefficient in propane and n-pentane at different pressure levels shows two different behaviours.
