Abstract

By using an interferometer the rate of heat transfer and the temperature changes in a quiescent liquid, caused by rapid condensation or evaporation have been measured for several liquids. It has been found that the value of the condensation coefficients calculated from these results falls with time of exposure and the reasons for this behaviour are discussed.
