Abstract
A pool boiling experiment is described concerning boiling mechanism and critical heat flux with water and carbon tetrachloride. Effects of such heater characteristics, as diameter and orientation, on critical heat flux of both organics and water have been investigated. Bubble parameters (diameter vs time, maximum diameter, frequency, waiting and growth times) have been measured, as a function of heat flux and subcooling, by boiling water on horizontal tubes of stainless steel.
