ANALYSIS OF DIFFUSION THERMO-EFFECTS IN FILM ABSORPTION
Abstract
The mass transfer process taking place in absorption of gases and vapors in liquids is often accompanied by a significant heat effect. When large temperature and concentration gradients are present, particularly in short, developing boundary layers, the diffusion thermo-effects may become significant. This paper considers a falling film model where the energy and diffusion equations are solved simultaneously to evaluate the contribution of diffusion thermo-effects in the combined heat and mass transfer process. A short-exposure time solution is obtained and the scaling parameters are developed.
