Abstract

The effect of partitions protruding from the end walls of a rectangular vertical cavity was studied numerically. The thickness of the partitions was equal to one-tenth of the width of the cavity. Their non-dimensional length (L/H) was varied from 0.0 to 0.5. The Rayleigh number was varied from 104 to 107 and the aspect ratio from 0.5 to 10. The effect of different thermal boundary conditions at the end walls was included in the investigation.
