Abstract

A new apparatus for on-line fouling monitoring of shell-tube heat exchangers has been developed to monitor the fouling deposits. This apparatus provides a very sensitive, reliable monitoring, easy of measurement for fouling deposits in terms of heat exchanger perfomance parameters. It can be used for field tests to evaluate fouling transient under industrial conditions and for fundamental laboratory research. This paper describes the fundamental principles on which the on-line fouling monitoring tehnique is based and the main components of the apparatus. The leading features of the fouling monitor are also enumerated.
