Abstract

This paper deals with the effect of cutting sharp-ended annular fins such as triangular and parabolic fins, which is a real consideration for safety design. Three different cross-section shapes are examined - constant thickness, triangular and parabolic fin shapes. In order to allow the design of the best fin for any practical use, the fin efficiency together with the optimized dimensions of sharp-ended and cut-off fins are presented.
