Abstract

We apply a novel numerical technique based on the boundary integral theory to solve problems arising from the transient response of nonlinear transport in a homogeneous isotropic medium. The nonlinearity associated with such problems is handled by discretization in the main domain of integration. In a typical finite element fashion the weighting or interpolation functions are defined for each subinterval in such a way that the solution profile is related to each node of the problem domain. This results in a hybrid procedure for an efficient solution of this class of problems. Illustrative results are presented for test problems whose solutions are available in literature. In all cases very encouraging results are obtained for problems involving 1-D and 2-D nonlinear transport.
