Abstract

The spectral method is an accurate numerical computation method. In this dissertation, spectral method is used to investigate the problem of two dimensional coupled radiation-conduction heat transfer. While the spatial domain is discretized by the spectral method and the angular domain is discretized by the discrete ordinate method, numerical computation equations of pure radiation or conduction heat transfer and coupled heat transfer are established. Using this method to solve heat transfer of translucent media in the shape of rectangle with the first heat transfer boundary condition, correctness of the result is validated when compared with literature data. The method is also applied to solve coupled radiation-conduction heat transfer problems limited by the second and third heat transfer boundary condition. The effects of some critical parameters such as scattering coefficient and other parameters on heat transfer are also studied.
