NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF A NONLINEAR FREE BOUNDARY PROBLEM OF AXISYMMETRIC FLUID FLOW IN TUBES WITH SURFACE SOLIDIFICATION
Abstrakt
A numerical solution is presented to a nonlinear, two-dimensional free boundary problem of axisymmetric fluid flow in tubes with surface solidification, The solution is based on the finite difference equations of continuity, motion, and energy; and on the Lagrange interpolation equations at the free boundary. Results are compared- with available approximate analytical solutions. The agreement is of the order of 10 to 40%. Special effects, such as viscous dissipation, axial viscous shear, axial
conduction, and discontinuity in mass densities are also evaluated quantitatively.
