MONTE CARLO CALCULATION OF TURBULENT MIXING IN A ROD BUNDLE
Abstract
The paper describes and discusses a Monte Carlo program for the calculation of heat transfer in turbulent channel flow, with special application to rod bundle channels. The Monte Carlo calculations were compared with conventional alternating-directions-implicit numerical solutions. The results show that the conventional method is more economical of computer time for moderate grid sizes, whereas the Monte Carlo method is practical for very large sizes, which are beyond the capacity of conventional methods.
