NUMERICAL STUDY OF UNSTEADY CONVECTIVE HEAT TRANSFER IN PULSATING DUCT FLOWS
Résumé
This paper presents some results of the
numerical study of hydrodynamic parameters and
heat transfer in a periodic gas flow in a circular
pipe in which the flow oscilations were generated
by the pressure variation at one of the pipe
ends. The considered case was selected because
it represents an experimentally well documented
configuration of engineering interest. In addition
it may serve as a suitable geometry for
testing the applicabilities of different numerical
schemes for solving the mathematical model.
The comparison of the experimental and numerical results demontrated a satisfactory agreement. The significant augmentation of the heat transfer coefficient was especially noticable in the resonant conditions, when the incitement frequencies of the flow pulsation corresponded to the duct natural frequencies.
