HEAT REMOVAL BY EVAPORATION OF VOLATILE COMPONENTS
Résumé
In this study the heat transfer between a continuous liquid phase and evaporating drop swarms is investigated. R 114 (1,2-dichlorotetrafluoroethane) is used as a volatile substance which is immiscible with the continuous water phase. Experiments were carried out in two columns with 0.14 m and 0.19 m inner diameter and a height of 4.3 m. The volume-specific heat transfer coefficient varies between 10 and 600 kW/(m3K). Experimental results show that the mass flow rate of R 114 and the temperature difference between the continuous phase and the evaporating drops are the main controlling parameters.
A mathematical description of the evaporation process is presented and its application is explained.
