AN INTEGRAL FORMULATION FOR A RADIATING CYLINDER WITH A CONTINUOUS HEAT SOURCE
Résumé
The non-singular, non-linear Volterra integral
equation of the second kind for the surface temperature of a cylinder with a continuous heat sink is solved numerically by a linear multistep procedure based on the composite formula. The boundary condition is assumed to vary not only as a function of temperature but also as a function of time. A pseudospectral approach is presented as an alternative method of solution to eliminate convergence difficulties for large radiation numbers in the integral equation technique. To verity the numerical efficiency of the integral equation approach and the pseudospectral technique a standard finite difference calculation is also performed.
