HEAT TRANSFER IN AN AXISYMMETRIC CONFINED JET WITH BLUFF BODY
Resumo
A local maximum appears in the distribution
of Nusselt numbers of the axisymmetric
confined jet with a cylindrical ring. It has been
confirmed by the flow visualization and the
spectral analysis of velocity fluctuation that
the axisymmetric vortices shed from the
cylindrical ring augments the heat transfer at
the downstream region of the ring. The
maximum Nusselt number becomes large with
decreasing the width-to-height ratio of the
ring as well as with increasing Reynolds
number. At the same time, the axial position
where Nusselt number takes the maximum
value moves upstream with these parameters.
The heat transfer characteristics may be
attributed to the change of the properties of
shedding vortices, such as their scale and
intensity of vorticity fluctuation.
