TRANSIENT NATURAL CONVECTION HEAT TRANSFER IN A CAVITY FILLED WITH A FLUID-SATURATED, POROUS MEDIUM
Аннотация
Natural convection flow in a two-dimensional cavity filled with a fluid-saturated, porous medium is considered for Darcy-Rayleigh numbers in the range of 0 to 10,000. The governing differential equations are solved numerically to give the stream function and temperature fields as functions of time and location in the cavity. The numerical analysis is based on a second-order accurate scheme presented by Peyret and Taylor {1}. The local Nusselt number is determined from the temperature field along each surface. Local Nusselt numbers along each surface are reported for the developing flow field at R=1,000 and for the cyclic flow field that develops for R=10,000. Average Nusselt numbers are presented for the full range of Darcy-Rayleigh numbers and several values of the aspect ratio and the temperature boundary condition.
