Аннотация

Natural convection experiments were performed for an air-filled rectangular enclosure with two discrete heaters protruding from a plate attached to its floor. The heaters were supplied with d−c power. The ceiling and sidewalls of the enclosure were maintained as constant isothermal cooling surfaces while the floor was insulated. A real-time holographic interferometry was used along with smoke flow visualization technique to clarify the effects of the heater plate location at the floor and the inclination of the enclosure on the flow Geld, temperature distribution, and heat transfer characteristics of the problem under consideration. Experimental results show that either the inclination of the enclosure or the non-centered plate location tends to more or less deteriorate the natural-convection cooling environment for the discrete heaters. Moreover, considerable portion of heat generated from the heaters is found to dissipate from the rear surface of the heater plate.
