Numerical modeling of silencers is an ongoing challenge that seeks to obtain acoustic characteristics of silencers for the purposes of product optimization or closer inspection of the flow and acoustic parameters. The present study simulates silencer performance, where heating or cooling the walls are considered to develop a temperature field that interacts with the acoustic waves. Computational fluid dynamic software that solves three-dimensional compressible Navier Stokes equations, has been utilized here for such studies. Results suggest that the temperature fields within the silencer flow and pressure fields have effects on the transmission loss (TL) in the silencer.
