A STUDY ON THE HIGH PERFORMANCE CERAMIC HEAT EXCHANGER FOR ULTRA HIGH TEMPERATURES
Abstract
Studies were carried out to develop a high performance ceramic heat exchanger for ultra high temperatures in a fluidized bed. Experiments were performed using heat exchangers with a bare and finned ceramic tube bundle immersed in a fluidized bed (Maximum bed temperature was 1373K). Though cooling air temperature ranged from 323K to more than 1273K, fluidization was stable and bed temperature was uniform. The heat transfer coefficient for the ceramic tubes was obtained, and the effects of bed temperature, fluidizing velocity, cooling air temperature and cooling air velocity were evaluated. Performances of the heat exchanger were also evaluated by temperature efficiency and exergy efficiency.
